Anthony Ostlund lawyers Courtland Merrill and Dan Hall won yet another decisive victory at the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Anthony Ostlund’s client was sued for patent infringement in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. The district court granted summary judgment in favor of Anthony Ostlund’s client and awarded attorneys’ fees after finding one of Plaintiff’s claims was exceptionally meritless. In an effort to collect on the judgment against the Plaintiff, Anthony Ostlund’s client made a motion to appoint a receiver to value Plaintiff’s patent portfolio. After the district court denied the initial motion, Merrill and Hall demonstrated determination and made a renewed motion to appoint a receiver. The district court agreed and on November 11, 2016, the Federal Circuit affirmed the district court.
