Ryan Lawrence and Pete McElligott Elected as Firm Shareholders

  • January 9, 2023

Anthony Ostlund is pleased to announce that attorneys Ryan Lawrence and Pete McElligott have been elected as Shareholders of the firm, effective January 1, 2023. In their tenure here, Ryan and Peter have played a lead role in solving problems and delivering results in high stakes business litigation.   They have represented a wide range of clients from individuals and small businesses to very large public and private corporations in variety of matters.

“Ryan and Pete’s work at Anthony Ostlund—successfully handling complex cases and deftly navigating difficult trials—stands as a shining example of the advocacy our firm is known for,” said firm CEO and Shareholder, Janel Dressen, “Ryan and Pete’s leadership and experience make a valuable addition to the Anthony Ostlund partnership, and their commitment to client service and to giving back to the community reflect the values we’re built on.”

Ryan joined the firm in 2017 after working in the Chicago office of a large, international firm. His experience spans multiple economic sectors, including healthcare, technology, energy, entertainment, banking, transportation and logistics, and commercial real estate. He has already taken a lead role in numerous matters and has substantial trial experience. Ryan was recently a member of the trial team that obtained the largest jury verdict in Minnesota history.

“I am incredibly excited to be joining the ranks of our firm’s shareholders,” Ryan said. “I look forward to working together with them and with every member of our great team to continue to achieve winning outcomes for our clients.”

Pete joined Anthony Ostlund in 2015. From his earliest days at the firm, clients have come to rely on Pete for his common-sense approach and his ability to act decisively and to deliver strong, concise messages to a targeted audience. He has first and second chair trial and arbitration experience, cross-examined difficult witnesses, led settlement negotiations, and briefed and argued numerous motions in many types of complex business disputes. Pete’s success has been recognized by the legal community including his selection as a Minnesota Rising Star, a North Star Lawyer, and recently a 2022 Attorney of the Year.

Pete adds, “Over the past 7 years, I have had the great privilege of working shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the very best trial lawyers in the Midwest to achieve excellent results for our clients. I am honored to join them as a Shareholder and to continue that tradition for years to come.”

Please join us in congratulating Ryan and Pete!
