Anthony Ostlund attorneys Steven Pincus, Norman Pentelovitch, and Peter McElligott were recognized by the Minnesota State Bar Association as 2018 North Star Lawyers. This recognition is given to attorneys that provide at least 50 hours of pro bono legal services annually to low-income people at no fee, and without expectation of a fee.
Steven and Peter have dedicated many more than 50 hours each to an ongoing certified class-action lawsuit brought in conjunction with Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid against Tony Lourey in his capacity as Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Human Services to allow individuals with disabilities access to individualized housing options so that they may be integrated into their communities. Norm is co-counsel with the ACLU of Minnesota in a certified class action lawsuit against a Minnesota county and Sheriff that allegedly violated state law and the Minnesota Constitution by illegally detaining immigrants without authority to do so.
“Anthony Ostlund is proud of its long tradition of giving back to the community” said Joe Anthony, the firm’s founding Shareholder. “Standing up for those who cannot stand up for themselves is the responsibility of every lawyer, and the firm is thrilled to support its attorneys as they carry on this important work.”
